As a child I have always loved sweet potatoes aka madhura kappa. Our mom used to boil them for us, and we would smash it, mix with milk and savor it with some added sugar. Until I got married, I didn't know that these same kappa can be turned into a delicious deep-fried snack as well! Thanks to Mrs. Jameela—my mother-in-law, that I learned this kozhikkal recipe within 5 minutes! Sharing it with my fellow kappa lovers:

Ingredients:
1. Madhura kappa (sweet potatoes)- 2 Nos, peeled and cut into long strips
2. Sunflower/coconut oil- 2 cups
3. Maida (plain flour) - 2 cups
4. Chilli powder- 2 tbsp
5. Turmeric powder- 2 tsp
6. Curry leaves, chopped- as required
7. Salt- to taste
8. Water- 1/2 cup
Instructions:
1. Add all the ingredients except the oil & water, in a vessel.
2. Add enough water for a medium consistency and mix them well.
3. Heat oil in a deep-bottomed pan- preferably a cheena chatty.
4. Deep-fry the mixture until in becomes brown and crispy.
Serve hot. Enjoy the snack with family, along with black tea or sulaimani.
